  • Protects crucial areas of the engine – oil pan, oil cooler, oil filter and exhaust header! That’s a long list of very expensive parts to expose to any sort of damage that will reduce your bikes value in no time.

  • Uniquely designed vent system – No unnecessary holes were designed on this bash plate. As a result, your engine will less likely to overheat when mud and all sorts of debris from offroading fly at the engine and get stuck between the skid plate and the engine/exhaust header.

  • Shaped to deflect – Thanks to its shape, the Kawasaki KLR650 can deflect trailside objects such as rocks, stumps, logs etc.

  • 4mm thick laser cut aluminum – Nothing is ever an overkill on such an adventure bike, hence we choose to build our bash plates from this ridiculously tough and thick, yet lightweight material.

Very pleased.

I researched alot of different skid plate options before going with the outback motortek. I like the design of the plate , especially the extra coverage in the water pump casing area. I'm pleased that this skid plate works seamlessly with my Dirtracks full crash bar setup that is also installed on the bike. Installation was very easy. It even has a cutout for the oil drain plug- you do not need to drop the plate to do an oil change.

Good looking skid plate, hard fit, 2000 KLR 650

Struggled a bit to fit the skid plate in place, had to file triangular plate holes so bolt would go through. Fits nice with wrap around DirtRacks engine crash bar. Had to cut off 1.25 inches slab at the back because it was in the way of my center stand. Normal oil drain bolt is well hidden above the aluminum plate: no chance of ripping it off accidentally. Plate looks well built with clean welds. Good price and from Canada, thanks Dualsport!

Great service!

Ordered a Outback Motortek Skid Plate for my Gen 1 Klr.Wrote a side note to be sure it would fit with my Dirtracks crash bars.Got a phone call from Holly I believe and then a follow-up with Clint.They weren't very familiar with dirtracks crash bars, so as a result couldn't confirm fitment.Clint then suggested that he had an "old stock" plate from a different manufacturer.He sent the "Altrider" model out to me that same day and it bolted right on.The plate and the hardware were top shelf.Thank's for the great service and smokn' deal.

Nice skid plate, terrible hardware.

Very nice skid plate, awesome upgrade. Took some time to get it lined up just right on the install. After the first ride it was rattling like crazy, re-tightened all the fasteners and found the two screws on the lower cross-brace were both snapped off. Time to go to the hardware store and re-do the entire process. Not acceptable!!!

Nice upgrade

The skid plate is miles better than the stock. A definite must. The plate itself was well made, welds were solid and well done. Only problem was the holes on the bottom mounting bracket were too close together and I had to hand fit it a bit but overall a solid product and I'd say worth the money
